Product detailed description
Fresh Yunnan white tea from from Nanben village (Nanbeng Laozhai 南本老寨) at Mengsong Tea Mountain (勐宋). Nanben village is located approximately 38 km from Menghai town (勐海镇) and it is a home of more than 89 families (2024). The tea was harvested and compressed during the first Spring harvest in 2025 (Touchun 头春), which is rarer and more demanded considering the sweeter and more complex taste. The tea leaves come from mature tea trees (qioamu 乔木), harvested across Nanben tea gardens at the elevation between 1700-1940 m.a.s.l. The cover has yellow-orange-white color and display the debate between two dragons at the summit of the Mengsong Tea Mountain about teas from Nanben village (Nanben Laozhai 南本老寨).
This tea was generously provided by Dao Yajin, a tea farmer and producer living in Nanben village. Dao Yajin comes from Han tribe (汉族) and moved here from neighborhood prefecture Simao (思茅). In 2014, she married Luo Sheng, a Nanben farmer from Hani tribe Hani (哈尼族), who owns a small tea workshop nearby Nanben village. With Dao Yajin, we firstly met in February 2025 during our work trip to Xishuangbanna, where we have visited their tea gardens and their small tea factory. We were mostly impressed by the wildness and rich biodiversity of the tea gardens in Nanbeng, which are very different from those in Zhanglang Village (章郎寨), one of the oldest tea villages in Bada Tea Mountain (巴达山).
