Product detailed description

⭐️ What makes this tea unique?

✓ Wonderful daily drinking tea from Nannuo Tea Mountain (南糯山)

✓ Harvested from mature tea trees (qiaomu 乔木) below 100 years old

✓Offers a unique insight into Six New Tea Mountains in Xishuangbanna

🍵 Tea taste profile?

This tea provides a distinctive taste of sweet honey, soft sweet pastry, forest fruit with subtle notes of exotic flowers and hazelnuts. Compared to other Six New Tea Mountains (新六大茶山), this tea has foter body and more refreshing aftertaste.

This tea is particularly suitable for comparative tea tastings among Six New Tea Mountains and tea lovers who seek for deeper concentration. This tea was selected in the late 2025 during our work trip in Xishuangbanna to diversify the selection of Nannuo teas from different tea gardens.

🌏 Tea origin & production?

This fresh sheng puer tea originates from Nannuo Mountain (南糯山), one of the Six New Tea Mountains located in Menghai county (勐海县),  Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. Despite its relatively small size (around 33 km2) and sparse population (about 6000 people), it is one of the most accessible tea mountains from Jinghong city (景洪市).

The tea leaves were harvested from mature tea trees (qiaomu 乔木) below 100 years old across tea gardens close to Suhu village (苏湖) in Galanghe micro-region (格朗合) at elevations of approximately 1600-1800 metres above sea level. The Spring harvest of 2025 was carried out by Ertu, who hand-picked and manually processed the sheng puer (Shengcha 生茶). The loose tea was then compressed in Menghai city and directly sent to us.

👩‍🚀 Packing & symbolism?

The central motive on the package use Chinese characters to emphasize the Suhu village (苏湖). The wrapper is designed in colorful style with magnificent peacock and local landscape, where peacock represents one of the regional symbols of Banna and mythical creature (Pheonix) from ancient times.

The wrapper has imprinted pattern of tea represented by Chinese character Cha (茶). The 200 g tea cake has two layers of paper cover and was moderately compressed, which make it highly suitable for the long-term archivation.

🫖 Historical background?

Nannuo Mountain (南糯山) is regarded as one of the oldest continuously cultivated tea-producing regions in Xishuangbanna, with a history spanning more than 1,000 years. In addition to the common large tea leaf variety (Dayezhong 大叶种), the mountain is also home to the distinctive giant tea leaf variety (Tedayezhong 特大叶种). Owing to their remarkable size, the leaves often naturally twist and intertwine, forming shapes that resemble braids or small brooms. Nannuo Mountain is inhabited primarily by the Hani ethnic minority (哈尼族), whose communities have played a vital role in preserving the region's traditional tea cultivation practices for generations.

🎎 How did we obtain this tea?

One of the core principles of Banna House is traceability of origin. We obtained this tea directly from Mr. Ertu, small tea producer from Hani tribe (哈尼族), who we firstly met during our casual travelling within Xishuangbanna in Summer 2022. Yet, during our last working trip in Winter 2025, we visited him again to interview his father and him about ongoing tea development in Nannuo Tea Mountain and Gelanghe micro-region. While it takes more than 2 hours by motorbike to Suhu village, we tasted some of his teas and placed the pre-order for Spring harvest 2025, which you are drinking now
