THNG040 - Damenglong Gushu Hongcha 2026
Product detailed description
🍵 Tea taste profile and other interesting facts?
This tea provides a distinctive taste of sweet pastry, forest stonefruits and sweet honey with soft apple vinegar and juicy fruity undertones. Unlike other tea villages from Xishuangbanna, we were impressed by the smoothness of the tea body, degree of fruitiness taste and very thick sirupy texture. This tea also presents a short memory for richness of the local fauna and Autumn harvest 2026, when we jointly elaborated the whole tea process step-by-step under the supervision of Liu Chengdong, including some tips and tricks how to improve the quality of the tea.
🌏 Tea origin & production?
This fresh red tea originates from Damenglong micro-region (大勐龙), one of the most remote and overlooked tea regions in the Jinghong City (景洪市). Yakou village (丫口) is located close to the China-Myanmar borders at the elevation around 1300 meters above the sea leavel and has around 200 people. Most of the local people are represented by Hani tribe (哈尼族). Similarly like other villages at Damenglong, Yakou village is virtually unknown and has large population of bitter tea (Kucha 苦茶), which is usually blended with regular sweet teas in large tea factories in Menghai county (勐海县).
The tea leaves were harvested from ancient tea trees (gushu 古树) above 100 years old across tea gardens close to Yakou village (丫口) at elevations of approximately 1400-1500 metres above sea level. The first Spring harvest of 2026 was carried out by Liu Chengdong, who hand-picked and manually processed the red tea (Yunnan hongcha 云南红茶). The loose tea was then compressed few months later (Q3/2026) and purchased directly at Liu Chengdong during our work trip across Xishuangbanna at the end of 2026.
🌱 Want to know more?
Due to our ongoing work trip across Xishuangbanna (September-October 2026), the detailed information will be added after our arrival to Europe. This tea recieved a subsidy from the Czech-Xishuangbanna Tea Association (CZEXITEAS), which allow us to provide this tea for more affordable price to promote the local producers.
In case of the pre-orders, please, use the online payments or bank transfers since the amount of tea samples carried back to Europe is very limited.
