Product detailed description

😍| Time for tea! This time, we would like to talk about Dai teaware (Daitao 傣陶), a local hand-made pottery in Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture (西双版纳), and our new arrival from Yu Zhangfeng, one of the oldest Dai pottery workshops in Jinghong city (景洪市).

🫖| The history of this pottery can be traced to the Dai Kingdom (1180-1993*), where various containers (particularly for food and liquids) and rough clay jugs for roasting the tea (烤茶罐 Kaochaguan) were produced. Until the late 1990s, the Dai teaware was virtually unknown. Yet, thanks to modernization of the Dai pottery workshops and raising the public awareness by adding the Dai pottery on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage in 2006, many potters were able to innovate and introduce new types of ceramics, including various gaiwans and tea pots.

🎎| What is behind the growing popularity of Dai teaware? How Dai teaware is produced? What are the differences between Dai pottery workshops? What kind of clays are used for producing the Dai teaware? How Dai teaware influence the taste of your tea? Are local clays for making Dai pottery so different compared to those from Jianshui? And what are the current challenges of the Dai workshops?

🍵| During the event, we will drink four Yunnan hongcha teas from Xishuangbanna and will share an exclusive content from Xishuangbanna with some unique photos and videos. The event standartly takes 60 minutes, yet, the duration can be extended or shorten upon the negotiation.

🙏| The entrance fee for the event is 500,- CZK per participant. The maximum number of participants is 6 tea lovers. Please book your seat in advance and make sure to eat beforehand so you can fully enjoy the authentic tea experience. The event can be repeated some other time upon the negotiation to better fit your needs and expectations. For more information, please contact us at info@bannahouse.cz Thank you for your attention — we look forward to sharing local teas and knowledge with you in our Tea Chamber!
