WE005 - Tea diplomacy: negotiation & customs

| Time for tea! This time, we will look at tea diplomacy and elaborate various negotiation approaches, you may encounter during your tea journey. Special attention will be paid to the local customs (concept of face, dining and feasting), enhancing relations (concept of reciprocity and gifts), different way of planning (deadlines and estimaes vs. spontaneity and accuracy) and other cultural differences in facilitating relations with locals.

| How important is the concept of Mianzi (面子) during negotiation? Why time is so relative in Xishuangbanna? How long usually take the bussiness meetings and why so many bussinesses are negotiated at lunch or dinner? What gifts are most appropriate during negotiation and why it is rude to open the gifts publicly? Why local often repeat themselves, while othertime they are silent? What gifts you may expect from tea producers? Why so much eye contact with wide grin may get you in trouble? And why locals have a tendency to smile or laugh during embarrasing moments?

🍵 | During the session we will taste four shu puer teas and share exclusive content from our recent research trip to Xishuangbanna, including unique photographs and videos from the region.

🙏| The entrance fee for the event is 1500,- CZK. The maximum number of participants is 6 tea lovers. The event will take place with a minimum of 3 tea lovers (500,- CZK per each participant) or upon negotiation. Please book your seat in advance and make sure to eat beforehand so you can fully enjoy the authentic tea experience.
