Product detailed description

Aged sheng puer from Taozizhai village (桃子寨) at Manzhuan Tea Mountain (蛮砖山). Tea was harvested/compressed in Spring 2005 and re-packed in Summer 2025. The tea leaves come from mix of young, mature and ancient tea trees (huncai 混采), which were collected across Taozizhai tea gardens at the elevation between 1300-1400 m.a.s.l. The cover has minimalistic design with Chinese characters (Ziwei chunhou 滋味醇厚 - Gushu nenya 古树嫩芽) refering to the rich/complex taste of this tea.
The tea was generously provided by Hu Rui, tea collector born in Menga township (勐阿镇) in Menghai county (勐海县). Hu comes from Han tribe (汉族) and her family owns a small tea house in Jinghong city (景洪市) since 2016. As a tea collector, she focuses on various teas across whole Yunnan Province, particularly from Xishuangbanna. During our work trip to Xishuangbanna in Autumn 2025, we spend a lot of time by comparing various aged teas from less-known tea villages in both Menghai and Mengla.

The tea has a pleasant aroma of dry herbs and dry wood with deep honey undertones. The tea has sour fruit taste with a refreshing hint of fresh sugarcane. In the teacup, a fragrant imprint of sweet honey, camphor wood and grounded spices then appears. The tea liquor gradually changes from light orange-brown shades to darker ochre-honey tones. The colour is transparent and sparkling. The tea body is smooth and complex. It delivers an intense and long-lasting moutfhul feeling with pronounced sweetness for several hours.
Hu Rui has very interesting Xishuangbanna tea collection ranging from fresh tea harvest to archived teas with the history up to 1980s. Unlike some other places, we really appreciate her honesty and patience with our questions regarding tracability of particular tea materials, contemporary tea trends and other tea-related issues. In addition, we were able to compare different tea storages both within and outside of Yunnan Province, which provides us better insight on aged Xishuangbanna teas.
We drank this tea for the first time during our Autumn work trip in Xishuangbanna and unlike other aged sheng puers, it provides rich and refreshing taste with smooth texture and long-after taste. We fell in love into this teas, so we decided to bring only few tea cakes to get more feedback about these amazing aged teas. We warmly recommend this tea for all tealovers, who dislike the naftalen, wet wood and other odd-fragrance, and would like to indulge into pleasant aged shengcha with more than 20 years history.
