Product detailed description

Delicious sheng puer from Laobanzhang (老班章) at Bulang Tea Mountain (布朗山). Tea was harvested and compressed in Summer 2025. Laobanzhang village belongs to the most demanded villages in Menghai County (勐海县) and it is the home of mountainous tribe of Hani (哈尼族). The tea leaves come from mix of young and mature tea trees (huncai 混采) with lower caffeine content (laohuangpian 老黄片), which were collected across Laobanzhang tea gardens at the elevation around 1800 m.a.s.l. The cover has minimalistic design with Chinese characters (Laobanzhang 老班章) and short description regarding of the history, geography and taste profile of this tea.
The tea was generously provided by Huang Zhiwei, tea farmer and producer born in Laobanzhang village (family No. 007), one of the most famous and wealthiest tea villages in Xishuangbanna. Huang comes from Hani tribe (哈尼族) and his family owns several tea gardens across Banzhang micro-region. During our work trip to Xishuangbanna in Autumn 2025, we spend a lot of time by exploring his tea gardens, tasting his teas from recent harvests and discussing the ongoing development of Laobanzhang village in the last 20 years.

The tea has delightful aroma of sweet honey and freshly cut wood with notes of wild Yunnan olives and pickled unripe plums. In the teacup, a fragrant imprint of gentle sweet musk and hazelnuts then appears. The tea liquor gradually changes from yellow-green light shades to darker golden tones. The colour is clear and sparkling. The tea body is very smooth and delivers an intense, long-lasting moutfhul feeling and pronounced sweetness for several hours.
Huang Zhiwei’s teas belong to the TOP what you can find in Xishuangbanna. We often come back to his teas not only because oftheir rich and attractive flavours, but also how they are made. Unlike other years, when these 200 g tea bricks are usually sold out at the very start of summer, we managed to acquire several kilograms of these exceptional teas this year. We warmly recommend this tea for all tealovers, who love authentic teas from Laobanzhang village and did not touch the tea heaven, yet.
