Product detailed description

Overview
A delicious shu puer tea from the Ancient Tea Mountain Mangzhi (莽枝), which was produced in Spring 2019 and pressed in the Spring of 2020. The tea leaves come from selected ancient tea trees (gushu 古树), the top-quality tea trees with the most complex taste, sweetness and vitality. This tea was generously provided to us by Wangjia, whose family originates from the village of Yanglin (秧林) on the Mangzhi Tea Mountain (莽枝) and focuses on teas across all six ancient tea mountains (guliu dachashan 古六大茶山). We have known Wangjia since 2020, and during our work trip to Xishuangbanna in early 2025, we met her several times in her teahouse in Jinghong (景洪). The tea has a bright ochre-honey colour and a pleasant honey-nutty fragrance. While drinking tea in Wangjia’s teahouse, we appreciated its distinctive pudding texture and creamy-honey taste, which are the reasons why teas from this area are so in demand.

Tea profile (akt. 06-05-2025)

  • Aroma: A sweet nutty scent with light smoky notes
  • Colour: The tea ranges from transparent ochre-brown tones to darker honey shades
  • Body: Pronounced smoothness and thickness
  • Taste: Roasted nuts (pinium nuts) and creamy pastry (oreo cookies, pudding desserts) with subtle tones of white orchid and honey
  • Aftertaste: Pronounced sweetness, a strong mouthwatering effect, and a lingering nutty-honey imprint in the tea cup
