TE038 - Lost in translation: tea literature & language (2.6. 2026)

| Time for tea! This time, we will look at tea knowledge sources, accuracy of translations and verification tools. Special attention will be paid to data mining (primary and secondary literature and online sources), type of observations (bottom-up vs. TOP-down), publishers (accessibility and availability), verification methods (audio-visual materials, interviews and other consultations) and other aspects regarding the tea knowledge production.

| Where can you get a reliable information about tea? What is the difference between systemic tea research and personal investigation? How  about Czech and foreign tea literature? What are the most common "errors and typos"? What tea issues are most frequently misinterpreted? How local people describe the taste and properties of tea? What was the evolution of tea terminology in Xishuangbanna? What prejudice you can find towards local teas and tea production?  And why we trust so much to European adventurers and artists rather than local producers and tea scientists?

| During the event, we will drink four Yunnan hongcha teas from Xishuangbanna and will share an exclusive content from our recent work trip in Xishuangbanna with some unique photos and videos. 

🙏| The entrance fee is 450,- CZK. The maximum number of participants is 6 tea lovers. The event will take place with a minimum of 2 tea lovers. Please book your seat in advance and make sure to eat beforehand so you can fully enjoy the authentic tea experience. The event can be repeated some other time upon the negotiation to better fit your needs and expectations.
