| Summer is finally here, which is a perfect time for exploring Xishuangbanna Tea Culture! This time, we will dive into the Competition Teas that were carefully selected by the Xishuangbanna Tea Association. This is the follow-up from 5th August 2025, where we were drinking Bingbansong Gushu 2023, a silver medal awarded tea at the 13th King Tea Tree Festival in Menghai in 2023.
| The history of tea competitions can be traced to Tang Dynasty (618-907), when best teas of the year were selected through blind tea tasting (doucha 斗茶). However, due to numerous disputes and lack of transportation, the large-scale tea competitions were virtually non-existent until the late 2000*. Nowadays, there can be found numerous tea competitions and tea festivals in China, where both teas (from Mengla 勐腊 and Menghai 勐海) and tea master skills (processing and artistry) are systematically compared.
| What is so special on competition teas? How does the tea competitions look like in Xishuangbanna? And how does medal-awarded teas from different tea mountains taste like? During the presentation, we will compare four teas and discuss the ongoing dynamics of the Chinese tea competitions.
| The entrance fee is 650,- CZK. The entrance fee includes a bilingual presentation (EN/CZ) and tasting four competition teas. The number of seats are limited.
