| Autumn is almost here, which is a perfect time for exploring Xishuangbanna Tea Culture! This time, we would like to talk about Giant Tea Trees (Gaoganchashu 高杆茶树) and meaning of Chaqi (茶氣), a complex feeling lifting up your mind and body.
| Giant Tea Trees, also sometimes referred as a single tea trees (danzhu 单株) or ancient tea trees (gushu 古树), represent a unique thick-trunk tea trees above 6-7 meters height, which can be usually found in the remote tea gardens or wild tea forests in Yunnan Province. These trees are carefully monitored and highly protected. Due to their extreme height, these trees often contain entangled ladders similar to scaffolding (jiaoshoujia 脚手架) to better reach the higher branches and improve the safety of tea farmers during the harvest.
| Unlike the majority of mature tea trees (qioamu 乔木), the giant tea trees have much deeper roots, which help them to get more minerals and wetness from the soil. As a result, they provide more complex flavours, stronger vitality, long sweet aftertaste, pleasant watering mouth feeling and positive vibes during your teatime. While many tealovers interprets Chaqi (茶氣) solely as a form of power boost caused by higher amount of caffeine and longer steeping time, these teas also bring wide spectrum of unforgetable pleasant sensations helping with your relaxation and concetration.
