🍵| Summer is finally here, which is a perfect time for exploring Xishuangbanna Tea Culture! This time, we would like to talk about proper tea storage and the impact of different types of storage on the taste of your precious Xishuangbanna teas.
🫖| Historically, it was the sheng puer tea (shengcha 生茶), which was systematically compressed into various shapes and volumes for long-term archivation since the development of the Ancient Tea and Horse Road (Chamagudao 茶马古道, 618-907). Yet, it was the combination of raising the public awareness about health benefits of puer teas (1979) and growing popularization in East Asia in the late 1980, which motivated many tea lovers to stock large quantities of these teas as a form of investment.
📦| To date, there can be recognized several approches towards the tea storage. While dry storage (Gancang 干仓) may better preserve the tea (dominant type of storage in Yunnan Province), the wet storage (shicang 湿仓) may enhane certain flavours of tea (prevalent in coastal regions of China such as Guandong, Taiwan and Hong Kong). Yet, many tea lovers struggle with proper storage that can be time consuming and hard to manage, especially in the cities.
🎎| How to properly storage the tea? What is the difference of storaging tea by local people and tea factories? What kind of tea can be aged? Is it worthy to age already aged teas? During the event, we will taste four aged puer teas (shengcha and shucha) and compare the results with different type of storage (both in Czechia and China).
🙏| The entrance fee is 500,- CZK. The entrance fee includes a bilingual presentation (EN/CZ) and tasting four aged puer teas (shengcha and shucha). The number of seats is limited.
