🍵| Summer is finally here, which is a perfect time for exploring Xishuangbanna Tea Culture! This time, we would like to talk about Laohuangpian Shengcha (老黄片生茶), a mature yellow-colored tea leaves from broad-leaf type of Camellia Sinensis var. Assamica in Yunnan Province (云南省). While there can be found numerous laohuangpian shengcha within Yunnan Province, we would like to compare recent harvests (2023-2025) from both Menghai (勐海县) and Mengla Counties (勐腊县).
🫖| Historically, it was the Hani tribe (哈尼族) that process the old tea leaves (Laopaka 老帕卡) for making the tea. Unlike the fresh tea sprouts (2-3 leaves + 1 bud), the laohuangpian has significantly less caffeine and sweeter taste, which is suitable for tea lovers of all ages (from children to elders), who needs to sleep in the evening.
🎎| What is so special on Laohuangpian sheng puer teas? How they taste? And what are the differences between Menghai and Mengla regions? During the presentation, we will compare four laohuangpian sheng puers and discuss the growing popularity of these teas.
