Product detailed description
🍵| Summer is finally here, which is a perfect time for exploring Xishuangbanna Tea Culture! This time, we would like to talk about Yunnan baicha (云南白茶), a white tea made from broad-leaf type of Camellia Sinensis var. Assamica in Yunnan Province (云南省). While there can be found numerous teas within Yunnan Province, we would like to compare recent harvests (2023-2025) from Mengla County (勐腊县), the most demanded region with a very limited quantity in Dai Autonomouse Prefecture Xishuangbanna (西双版纳).
🫖| Since the Tang Dynasty (618-907), it was the Six Ancient Tea Mountains (Guliudachashan 古六大茶山) that gave the foundation of Ancient Tea Horse Road (Chamagudao 茶吗古道) through which the tea was exported all round the world. Yet, unlike the traditional production of raw puer tea (shengcha 生茶), which dominates the Xishuangbanna tea industry until now, there can be found a growing popularity of Yunnan white teas since early 2000s.
🎎| What is so special on Yunnan white teas from Mengla County? What is the difference between loose and compressed white teas? And how good was this year's harvest? During the presentation, we will compare four Yunnan white teas from four ancient tea mountains (Yibang, Mangzhi, Youle and Gedeng) and discuss the growing popularity of these teas.
