🌿 A little piece of Hani culture from the tea mountains of Xishuangbanna. The traditional Hani bag (Hani Baobao 哈尼包包) is a handmade shoulder bag characterized by its narrow strap, distinctive tassels, and metal decorations. This type of bag is commonly worn by the Hani people (哈尼族), whose communities can be found across various parts of Yunnan Province. In Xishuangbanna, Hani communities are particularly associated with mountainous tea-growing areas, where tea cultivation and processing have long been intertwined with local ways of life.

🧵 Each bag is made primarily from natural cotton, complemented by woolen tassels and small coin-like metal ornaments. The color palette is dominated by black and other dark shades, which are prominent visual features of many traditional Hani textiles found throughout Yunnan Province. The dark background is often contrasted with colorful embroidery, tassels, and other decorative elements, whose designs vary according to the particular region, local traditions, and individual makers.
